I still think Moroni's the coolest.

Yesterday, while we were driving home, Spencer randomly started talking about the Gingerbread Man. He decided that he really needed to make a Gingerbread Man. We couldn't figure out where in the world he had come up with this - it was very random. I didn't even know he knew the Gingerbread Man story, but he knew "Run! Run! As fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread man!

I remembered some sugar cookie dough we had in the freezer and thought I had a Gingerbread Man cookie cutter, so I told him we could make one that night. Hey, if he actually suggests an activity that doesn't involve computer games, shooting bad guys, or cars, I'm all for it!

We got everything out that evening only to realize that I didn't have a Gingerbread Man cookie cutter. Oh no! The closest thing I had was an Angel Moroni. (Part of a set my mom gave me. It has the Salt Lake temple, a covered wagon, the CTR shield, a beehive, and the Angel Moroni.) Spence thought that was pretty good, until I explained to him that Moroni wasn't holding a sword - it was a horn.

Suddenly, Moroni wasn't quite as cool as previously thought.

So I whipped out my mad cookie-making skills and cut out a Gingerbread Man by freehand. Not perfect, but good enough for Spence! He was very pleased. He was even happier when he got to frost him and put chocolate chip eyes and buttons on him. As you can see, he enjoyed eating him as much as making him. (Which was a relief - I thought he might grow attached to him and we'd have to keep the cookie around for a while.





On a totally different note...
How do you like my new blog design? Many kudos and thanks to my fabulous husband for helping me with the HTML coding to get it up. Marrying a computer geek was one of the best decisions I ever made!
