Thanksgiving 2011

Whoa.  Hi.

So I've been out of the blogosphere for a while, mainly because it's so easy to stop and so hard to start again.  Especially when you have so many wonderful pictures from Thanksgiving like I do.  So many amazing pictures.  So many... pictures...

Okay, these are the pictures I have.

Seriously, that's it.

It's all Paul's fault.  He has that super-neato camera that I lust after, and he kept taking all of these awesome pictures and so I was like, Oh, I'll just copy the pictures from Paul.  But of course that never happened, and all I'm left with are some pictures of the sugar cream pie I made (Indiana's state pie!) and the turkey - before it was cooked.

I'm so lame.  So very, very lame.

Fortunately, my Thanksgiving was not lame.  In fact, it was pretty awesome.  Of course our Hoosier family, the Souths, joined us.  They traditionally have rigatoni with meatballs and sausage, which they graciously brought along.  It was so good.  Cole LOVED it; it's all he ate and he had an orange face when he was done.  That's the sign of a good meal.  (Wish I had a picture of it...)  I'm pretty sure every Thanksgiving dinner should include some sort of pasta from now on.

We also had real family in town - my cousin Brad, his wife, Shanna, and their son, Landon.  They recently moved to Peoria, IL, so they braved the three hour drive to Lafayette with a toddler to spend the weekend with us.  I'm so glad they did!  Here's a picture I stole from their blog.

Now just imagine them in our house, minus the waterfall.  Aren't they such a cute family?

We didn't do anything too exciting (other than watch Lance put up the Christmas lights), but we did get to talk a lot and get to know each other better.  They are so great!  And Landon is so cute!  I mean, I knew them before, but really, we haven't seen each other in years.  Isn't it great to have such good family that you can be apart for years and then come together and have a really great time?  And I'm pretty sure Landon had a blast with my wild boys.  (I hope they didn't teach him anything bad, Shanna!)  And the boys had fun with him - they keep mentioning him in their bedtime prayers and at lunch and such.  (They never mention me... hmmm...)

Maybe next year we can convince Brad's sister, Shelley, and her family to drive over from Cleveland and join us.  It'll be a cousin jamboree!  (She couldn't come this year because she was busy having a baby and all.  Whatev's, Shelley.  Worst excuse ever.)

Anywho.  In sum, Thanksgiving 2011: no surprises, no real excitement, no pictures.  But lots of good food and lots of good conversation and time spent with family and friends.  Just the way I like it.

You all were great hosts for us! We are so glad we were able to spend Thanksgiving weekend with you. Landon had a grand time with your boys and I'm sure if he could talk he'd be mentioning them in his prayers too:). So far just a little extra growling is all that we've noticed from him (thanks to Josh:)). Thanks for being so welcoming to us. We loved getting to know you all better and we look forward to more visits (if that's okay with you of course:).
