We've been busy this summer, especially the last 2 weeks with swim lessons. The kids did pretty well, although I wish Tess and Cole had progressed further. (However, I think that's more on them than the teachers. Tess was kind of stubborn about doing anything in her class. Punk kid.)
I only got pictures the last day of lessons (party day) because during the rest of the time I was reading. (Hey, a whole 30 minutes of reading with no one to bug me? Yes, please.)
Josh has really got that flip down.
Ever graceful, Spencer!
It took all of Cole's nerve (and a life vest) to get him to go on the diving board. He wanted to SO BADLY. I'm proud of him for finally conquering his fear! He went off several times in a row.
Miss Tess refused to get in the pool on party day without a life vest. And what does she do at our neighborhood pool today? Refuse to wear her floaty and swim for 3 hours and yell and scream when we leave because she wants to keep swimming. But at lessons? No dice. No putting her head under water. No floating without help. No leaving the side of pool. Like I said: punk kid.
Last Friday the youth in our stake put on a big summer carnival for all of the primary kids. (This was part of their youth conference.) It was really well done and Josh, Cole, and Tess had a grand time. (Spencer opted to stay home, since he's not in Primary but isn't old enough for youth conference yet.) They had a ton of games and you always won a prize.
And... cotton candy! The kids were in heaven!
Tess opted to get her face painted. Josh and Cole weren't interested. In fact, Josh wasn't interested in even hanging out with us and instead went from game to game with his buddy Caden. (I was okay with this since Josh has been an absolute pill lately.)
She was quite pleased with herself. "Look how beautiful I am!"
The youth in our church are so great. They did such a great job, and were so good about playing with all those little kids and making sure they had a fun time. And their leaders? Saints. I'm grateful for the time and sacrifice they put into their service.
On Saturday I spent a little spiritual time out in the garden and the yard. Spending time out there is so good for me! My garden is doing okay this year. It's been pretty wet this season and I had to plant later than usual. I suspect powdery mildew will overtake the garden while I'm in UT in a few weeks. Sadness. But hopefully I'll get enough tomatoes to can more salsa. We ran out a while ago and I'm still mourning the loss.
