A while back I picked up a used rocker/glider for around $25. It was kinda... well... ugly. The fabric on the cushions was an ugly kind of tan tweed and had little hearts and initials drawn on them. (The previous owner obviously had children!) Some of the wood was nicked, and it needed a good cleaning. But it was actually still in pretty good shape. (Note: I forgot to take 'before' pictures. Dang. Well, trust me. It wasn't pretty.)
For the last few months I have been giving the chair a make-over. The reason it took so long is that I quickly discovered I really don't like giving chairs make-overs. Specifically, I don't like sewing the cushions and I don't like painting. Oh, and cleaning the chair. I didn't like that either. So I dragged the project out.
But no matter - it's done now and I think it turned out really well! (All things considered, that is. Don't come over and expect perfection, because you certainly won't find it!)
I love the colors, and they go really well with the rest of the room.
The fabric, the primer, and the paint were all on sale, so the whole thing (including the cost of the chair) cost me around $45. (I had to buy a staple gun for the project, but that's okay because we've needed one for a while and it was really fun to use. The boys were super-impressed with me.)
