Toy Clean Out

For a while I have been thinking about cleaning, sorting, and organizing all the toys in the house in order to get ready for Christmas.  I had been putting it off, because let's be honest, that is NOT a fun project.  But early last week I discovered that Cole had left a sippy cup of milk in the toy closet.  And it leaked.  And fermented.  And it smelled as great as you think.

So I got to work.  I scoured the house for rogue toys.  I sorted: keep, Goodwill, trash.  I cleaned.  I changed batteries.  I tried to keep Cole and Tess from "helping" too much.  (I also ignored the Halloween decorations that were still up downstairs.  You should, too.)  Four kids times birthdays times Christmas times grandparents = lots of toys.

Around 14 hours later, success!  Lots of extra room in the closet, much more organized.  Tess approved, mainly because now she could actually get into the closet.

I used this as a Personal Progress value project, which was an added bonus. 

Of course, the basement and the closet stayed clean for around 33 seconds. Still, it felt good to get it done!
