After the 2nd week Josh came home with his painted car. I asked him if he wanted decals on it. (Because why do I even have a Cricut if not to cut out decals for pinewood derby cars?!) He said he didn't care. I said the colors on his car reminded me of zombies. He said he didn't care. So I put zombie decals on and I think it turned out pretty cool.
I asked if he wanted to put a "The Driving Dead" logo on it, but he said no. Bummer.
I also asked him if he wanted to add weight to the car. He said he didn't care. In fact, he proclaimed he didn't care at all if he won or not.
His excitement at winning his first race said otherwise...
Josh ended up placing somewhere in the middle. Not the best, but certainly not the worst. Just where we like to be. (We don't really want our kids to win because then you'd have the option to go on to regionals or county or something like that. No thanks.)
Cole was WAY into it this year. In fact, he was quite upset that Josh didn't win! I tried to soothe him, and even reminded him that he would get to build and race a car next year, and that if he worked really hard maybe he could win. He said he'd think about it. (Who is this kid?!)

Last year Josh was too sick to race his car. This year Lance was too sick to come. February is a rough month in our house health-wise.
Six pinewood derbies down, only three more to go! Phew!
