Grandpa and Grandma Visit

Lance's parents came for a quick visit last week. Due to the rain we couldn't do any of the fun stuff we had planned, like visiting the pumpkin patch and nature walks at the Battle Ground monument, but we will had a fun time.

No pictures, of course. But a fun time.

Okay, I got a few pictures. But none of everyone together, of course. That would just make too much sense. These were all taken the last evening they were here. We celebrated Joy's birthday and play Mexican Train dominoes all evening. Way fun.

Even though Joy held Cole more often, I only got a picture of him with Viggo. Pretty cute, though, right?

Josh in classic form: skulking around the kitchen table while we play dominoes. He was mad because we said he couldn't have birthday cake since he didn't eat his dinner. Tantrums ensued for the next two hours.

Lance showing what he wanted to do to help Josh shape up.

Spencer wanted to join in on that action.

In response Josh took his customary position on the tantrum rug.

Josh decided to stop acting up for a few minutes to play dominoes. He was good for about 5.3 seconds before he started stealing, throwing, and chewing dominoes and being a general nuisance.

Spencer loved playing Mexican Train dominoes; he felt very grown up!

Mexican Train dominoes action shot.

Cole wanted to join the party, too. And by 'wanted' I mean whined and whined until someone held him on their lap because the high chair was just
not good enough.

Joy's birthday cake. (Buttermilk Orange Blossom - very rich, but yummy!) Happy birthday, Grandma!

We are so glad you could visit - we love and miss you!

Born to Eat

On a whim I decided to feed Cole his first cereal today. (Note: despite what my pediatricians recommend, I just start with oatmeal now. The rice cereal is nasty and my kids never like it.)

Verdict: this child was born to eat.

Unlike most new eaters, hardly any came out. When he was done he had eaten just shy of two tablespoons. Awesome.

Here's some video of the big event. Warning: extreme cuteness. May contain a cute baby, baby laughter, and said baby's big brothers. I love it.

Who's The Cutest Of Them All?

Lance's parents have been in town for a couple of days. (More on that later.) They've been staying in the guest room (i.e. Cole's room), so Cole's been bunking with us.

I moved the rocker into our room and made the mistake of putting it next to our standing mirror. Whenever I nursed him we had to take a few minutes to admire that cute baby in the mirror. (And when I say 'had to' I mean it - his displeasure was well known if I tried to skip this apparently important step!)

I decided to get a few shots of it, he's so dang cute. My favorites are the ones with his head in the foreground. He was just so pleased with himself.

Rock Star

As you may have noticed in one of my recent posts, Spencer loves these star glasses he got as a party favor the other day. Luurrrves them. As in, he's sleeping with them in bed right now. And he keeps putting them on around the house and acting as if wearing them is perfectly normal.

I love that.

He explained to me the other day why he wears them so much: "Mommy, did you know that rock stars wear glasses like these? Cool, huh Mommy?"

I love that, too.

(I think he got this idea from Rock Band. Okay Uncle Kevin, next time we visit you have to play Beatle's Rock Band with Spencer, early songs only. Maybe then he'll think it's cool to wear a necktie.)

We decided Cole would like to get in on that rock star action as well:

Cole ended his stint as a rock star in the same way he ends everything he now gets his hands on:

Rock on!

Self-portrait Tuesday: For Gigi

My losing streak is over - I won the bunco prize tonight! Wahooo!

It's pretty great, but I'm not quite sure what I'm gonna use it for. Suggestions?

Moon Rain

Lance told me that the other day Spencer told him the reason we are getting so much rain lately was because we bombed the moon.

Kindergarten logic.

Awesome.

Kaput

A day spent terrorizing your older brother, harassing your mother, and enduring your baby brother?

Exhausting.
