- spent more time than planned making jam
- fumed and/or swore* over the jam because it did not jell (%&*@#%X!!!)
- bought a water bath canner that I did not realize would not work on my ceramic stove top
- returned a water bath canner
- bought a pressure cooker that did not work
- returned a pressure cooker
- forgot to turn off the hose and accidentally watered my garden for 2 hours (dang it)
- ate dinner at McDonald's even though I didn't really want to
- scored a free milkshake at McDonald's, which tasted better than any other milkshake at McDonald's because it was free
- watched Tess come sooooo close to figuring out how to use a straw
- chased THREE rabbits out of my garden
- barked and/or swore* at the rabbits for eating my green beans
- yelled and/or swore* at the bugs for eating my green beans
- picked a lot of squash and zucchini
- sprayed a rather large amount of insecticide on my garden
- sprayed a rather large amount of fungicide on my garden
- chipped/scraped/cleaned most of the burnt jam off of my ceramic stovetop
- made homemade laundry detergent**
- was pleasantly surprised that the laundry detergent seemed to do a pretty good job!
- got after naughty little boys for getting out of bed
- put Tess back to bed after previously mentioned little boys woke her up
- gave un-jelled jam the evil eye as I cleaned the kitchen one more time
- collapsed into a chair to blog

**I never thought I would become so frugal that I would make my own laundry detergent, but my usual brand (which is pretty cheap to begin with) just nearly doubled in price. Since I am CONSTANTLY doing laundry I figured that experimenting with making my own would probably be worth it. We'll see. (In case you're interested, here's the site I used.)

Thank you for the link to the recipe you use....I've been making and using a liquid version for several years now.....but I am more then ready to try something new! Love the dry idea.

Would you let me know how the detergent works on messy kids clothes? I tried making some before and it didn't get the clothes very clean. I've seen this recipe on pinterest and it looked interesting.
Sorry about the jam. I made a huge batch of apple jelly that turned out to be just really thick apple juice. I understand the desire to swear.
I made laundry soap today too! Basically this same recipe, except I used Kirk's Castile soap instead of the Zote/ Fels-Naptha, and Downey Unstoppables instead if the Purex. It was so fun!
