Grocery Shopping

I was almost giddy at the thought of going grocery shopping this morning with only two children.  So much easier than all four!  Piece of cake!

And it was.  At first.

We were almost done.  I was leaning over to examine some green leaf lettuce, when Cole decided it would be a good idea to grab the produce sprayer and spray my pants.

It looked like I had peed myself.

It happened so fast that I was in a bit of shock at first.  And although I had rather soggy and uncomfortable pants, I couldn't help but laugh because it was all so sitcom cliche.  Oh, Cole was told that under no circumstances was he allowed to touch the sprayer again, but he got off fairly easily.

We were finally in the checkout line.  It was taking a while, and both Cole and Tess were getting fussy.  I was loading the cart when I realized that Cole was nowhere to be seen.  I looked up just in time to see his little blond head running out the exit doors.

As in, out into the busy parking lot.

I yelled his name, telling him to STOP!

He didn't.

In fact, he ran past at least 5 adults, who just watched while my toddler ran outside.

Seriously, people?!  Stop the running toddler!!  I am NOT going to be upset if you save his life by stopping him from running into traffic!

So I had to quickly decide which was the lesser of two evils: letting Cole go into the parking lot and probably get run over, or leave Tess and my purse in the cart at the check-out lane.

I decided to chase after him.

We finally got out of the store, no thanks to anyone else in stopping my toddler with suicidal tendencies, and loaded up the car.  We drove home and I opened up the doors only to catch Tess eating her car seat.

You read that right.

She had pulled the cover off of part of her seat and was munching away on the styrofoam that was behind it.

What the what, Tess?!  Obviously, she was NOT happy when I stopped that whole business.

Only two weeks until preschool starts and then I'll only have one child to take grocery shopping.  How much trouble could Tess really give me?  (I'm afraid I'll find out...)
