Snow and Sunshine

first, my old laptop is rebelling.  the left shift key isn't working at all and the right one works only intermittently.  Stupid computer.  My new laptop isn't due back from repairs until the end of the month. *sigh*  So, the caliber of my posts might not be up to the standards i usually keep for the next little while.

We finally got a decent amount of snow the day after Christmas and it still hasn't left.  It's been cold.  (that cold was supposed to be capitalized.  So was the t at the beginning of the sentence.  Stupid computer.)

Anywho, the kids around the neighborhood have figured out that the hill in our back yard is great for sledding down.  they have to run and go on their belly first, but that's just fine by them!  On any given afternoon I have at least half a dozen kiddos racing around our back yard.

cole desperately wants to sled like the big boys, but he just isn't quite brave enough.  he also always gets cold within 20 minutes and has to come in.  Spencer follows about 45 minutes later because he has zero body fat.  And Josh could pretty much play in the snow all day because he's my little heater, who refuses to wear a hat or hood on even the coldest days.

there they are: the racers at the top of the hill.  (Excuse the photo - it was taken through the screen of our patio because there was no way I was actually going to go out in that snow!)

And they're off!  (I think some of them might have cheated on the start.)

Joshie takes the win away from charlie by crashing into him.

In other news, our neighbors gave us some grapefruit for Christmas.  We're not big grapefruit eaters around here for some reason, so I wasn't sure what to do with them.  Then I remembered seeing a recipe for grapefruit marmalade and decided to try making it.  It's pretty darn tasty stuff!  And just plain pretty.  the jars look like they're filled with sunshine.
