That's Quite a Physique

Seriously, I think his rolls have rolls.

You are too cute, Cole.  Too cute.

Child Abuse

I stabbed Cole this morning.  Oops.

It's not as bad as it sounds.  I was trying to get him dressed, 'trying' be the key word here.  That kid is WIGGLY.  His signature move is the Death Roll of Freedom*, which makes it pretty much impossible to hold on to him unless you have four arms, which, unfortunately, I don't.

Anywho, I was sitting cross-legged on the floor with Cole in my lap, trying to get his pants on.  All of a sudden he breaks out the Death Roll.  I was tugging on the pants, my hands slipped, and I bonked him in the forehead.  One of my fingernails hit him juuuust right and made a pretty good dent.  Blood and everything.  Nice.

Cole didn't even flinch.  He just kept wiggling to get out of my grasp and, apparently, get as much blood on the carpet as possible.  I had to distract him with camera just to get the band aid on.  (The child has known for a while that when the camera is out you stop, pose, and smile.)

Josh was very impressed with my work.  He even chose the band aid for Cole.

Sorry, buddy.  Getting you dressed is getting dangerous.  Good thing summer is coming!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

We started our festivities a little early: last week the boys helped me find green things from all around the house, and then we decorated our mantel with them.  It's fun to see what kind of things they come up with.

We also filled the apothecary jar with green and gold balls, which I thought was a nice touch.

This morning my family feasted on green eggs and ham.  Doesn't that just look appetizing?

I thought it tasted pretty good, once you got over the color.  Which everyone did.  Plus, and I'm not at all embarrassed to state this, I make the world's greatest scrambled eggs.  (Green or not.)  Maybe I'll post about them some time.

Spencer was a grouch for some reason.  I think he wanted green waffles like we had last year.

I thought Josh would be more excited about this as well, since he loves the book Green Eggs and Ham.  Oh well.

Cole decided to sleep in until 9am, which was AWESOME.  He spent the rest of the day wearing green, getting his naps interrupted, playing outside, whining, getting his legs caught in the bars of the crib, and eating.

Today he only wanted to eat raisins.  I knew I shouldn't have introduced them to him.  I later convinced him to eat some of the soda bread I made - but it had raisins in it, so big surprise.

Here's the bread I made.

It was pretty darn tasty, and I considered using it as my international food of the month.  But it was a very Americanized version, so I didn't.  Besides, I have something else in mind for that later.  Something also from the British Isles.  Something that will be WONDERFUL.  If I can pull it off.  (Intrigued?)

A New Take on an Old Classic

Spencer: Joshie.  Joshie!!  Knock-knock.

Josh: Who's there?

Spencer: Apple.

Josh: Apple who?

Spencer: Apple you glad I didn't say banana?

Both boys: BWAHAHAHAHAAAAAHAA!

Spring Cleaning: Part II

Today Lance and I deep cleaned our bedroom and closet.  I don't have any before and after pictures because it's not like our room was a disaster to begin with, and it's hard to take pictures of dust bunnies under the bed or dirty baseboards.

We washed the walls, doors, baseboards, windows, window sills, furniture and anything else that was dirty.  We polished furniture, organized the closet and drawers, steam cleaned the carpet, and set aside a lot of stuff for Goodwill.  It was great.

But the best part?  Lance finally fixed our bed.  See, when we first moved in nearly four years ago our good friends Graham and Ashley helped us move in on our first day in the house.  While Ashley and I unpacked and organized the kitchen (which we did a great job of, I might add), Graham and Lance worked on putting our bed together.  And in true manly men fashion, they did not bother to read the instructions.

Four nearly four years we have had to deal with a bed that wobbled and dipped and, although not really broken, was just not right.  Why did we wait so long to fix it?  I have no idea.  Probably because the only time we thought about it was when we went to bed.  But it's fixed now!  Hooray for Spring cleaning!

A Wake Up Call Not Ordered

Cole keeps waking up at 5:30am.  A bottle just doesn't do it for him - he is awake and ready to seize the day!

I reason with him.  Threaten him.  Bribe him.  Plead with him.

Nothing works.

So I give in and play.

And by play I mean lay on the floor next to him as he throws one toy after another at my face and giggles with glee.

Then I drag my sleepy self around the rest of the day.

Oh mercy, I'm tired.

This is why some mothers in the animal kingdom eat their young.  But I won't.  I suspect he's stuffed full of trans fats and cholesterol.

Plus, he's just so dang cute.
