Celery Bog

On Friday I decided the kids and I needed an outing, so we went on a little hike at Celery Bog.  (Which is actually more of a marsh than a bog, but I digress...)

Once again Cole was in the backpack.  I think he enjoyed it more this time.

He certainly enjoyed pulling my hair and trying to bite my neck. (He couldn't, so he chewed on the backpack instead.)

Once again the boys acted as if this was a forced death march.  They were also both quite concerned that I would get them lost. (Nevermind the fact that they both frequently get lost.  In our own house.)

Here's Spence down by the water.  The boys couldn't understand why trying to walk on the algae was a bad idea.

Josh refused to hold still.  I had to get a picture on the sly.

We saw some herons and lots of bugs and a gaggle of geese swimming in a big line.  Josh proclaimed it a Goose Parade!

After our hike we decided to check out the Nature Center.  Josh and Spencer enjoyed looking at the exhibits, playing Frog Checkers, and running around.  Cole enjoyed laughing to tears over his stroller.

In the back of the center was a wall of windows that showed a small area with lots of bird feeders.  There were microphones outside so we could hear all of the birds.  We also saw a bunny, a chipmunk, and a squirrel.  The boys LOVED it.  (Especially Josh, our resident animal lover.)

On the way home Josh declared, "That hike was better than the last one."
