This past weekend was General Conference. I usually spend my time listening to that while making felt flowers. But this year I just didn't feel like making felt flowers. Tess has more than she needs right now and I have no idea what her Christmas dress will look like so I can't even make some for that in advance.
Anywho, this year I worked on decor and games for our upcoming Harry Potter Doughnut Party. I had some extra photo mats laying around and I decided to put quotes from Harry Potter into them. Actually, I started out with random quotes from several characters but they morphed into all Dumbledore. Because Dumbledore is very, very wise. Also, the things a bunch of teenage wizards say? Not always that profound. Whatever. I thought I'd hang them up a day or two before the party, but then decided I liked them so much I'd hang them up right then!
I have to say that doing all of this Harry stuff has made me fall in love with the story all over again. I honestly read the book only a few months after it came out. (I'm not just saying that to sound all cool and hipstery. I really did read it that early.) I came home from school for Christmas break and my mom told me I should read it and gave me her copy. I thought she was a little weird reading a kid's book (this was before juvenile fiction got really big again). But I decided I'd like to read something light after a busy semester.
I read and couldn't stop reading and I still can't. A few months ago when I was reading the series to Josh and Cole it was all I could do not to read the books to myself during the day while they were at school! (It's not like I didn't know what was going to happen!)
Harry was with me through most of college, when most people hadn't heard of him. He was with me during my newlywed years, when Lance and I would read out loud to each other, until finally I got tired of him having classes or tests or whatever and read ahead and never looked back. (Sorry Lance. Not sorry.) Harry was with me when Spencer was born and when my mom died. He was with me through a move across country and two moves across town. He was with me through all the late night nursing sessions I had and all of the long afternoons of having little, needy kids at home. (And if you're a mom you know just how long those afternoons can be.) Harry will always have a special place in my heart.
Anyways, back from that random tangent... I posted a picture of my efforts on Instagram and Facebook, and now several people have requested that I pass out digital copies.
Done and done.

Notice the bonus 'Always' print. Oh Snape. Oh Snapey Snape. That story line still gets me every time.

Um, #4? "Bust just as much..."? That's one of my favorite quotes from the series, but I think additional proofreading may be needed (see p. 306 of book one). :)
