May Band Concert

Spencer had his last band concert of the year last week. Since it was Pack Meeting that same night, Lance took the littles to the church and I got to enjoy the concert all to myself. It feels like we've had a ton of band stuff this year, and this was just one more thing. Even Spencer wasn't too jazzed about it - I think all the band kids are a little burned out and just glad to be done with school soon! But the concert was great, as usual. Mr. Burnett, the band director, is kind of amazing in what he does with these kids. You can tell he just loves music and loves teaching. No wonder he was the teacher of the year for the school this year.

The best song was the Wind Ensemble's Disco medley, which I recorded in full because Spencer was pretty proud about it. But I accidentally dropped my phone after the first sections. Whoops. But I started again quickly, and was even able to catch some 6th graders doing the YMCA actions with the music at the end. Score.

Also of note is the skulking teenager in front of me, in the grey hoodie with skulls on it. That kid did not want to be there! It was kinda funny because, let's face it, we've all felt that way at some point at things like this, right? Hang in there, buddy.

I didn't even get a picture of Spencer that night. Oh well. There will be plenty more opportunities for that next year!
