We've been so busy lately, and yet I find it hard to find things to blog about. Mainly because all we've been doing is going to baseball games. With both Josh and Cole playing, we're at the ballpark a good 4-5 nights a week. Tomorrow they both have games back to back. Oy. I've gotten good at packing dinners and snacks for my brood, because I refuse to spend money at the snack bar. ($2.50 for a hot dog?! Ridiculous.)
We've watched baseball in the rain and wind. We've watched baseball in the cold. Hopefully this week we'll watch baseball in the pleasant spring time sun.
During Cole's first game he goofed around and danced in the outfield. But he was finally part of a play and that's opened up his competitive nature a little and he's taking things a little more seriously.
It was cold during this game - lots of huddled boys!
One weekend we went to the Wea Ball park, which is pretty close to our house. Very nice! But it was the first Saturday of the month so at 11am the storm sirens went off for their monthly testing. There was a siren at the park, and it was so loud we had to pause the game while everyone covered their ears.
Tess loves to come to the games so she can play with other kids, play on the playground, or let me braid her hair. (She never keeps the braids in.)
During one game Cole got to be catcher.
I don't think he really knew what was going on.
It's killing Josh that he doesn't play infield that much. He HATES the outfield.
He's pretty consistent about getting a hit, but the batting lineup is usually not as good after him, so he doesn't get to score often.
Little boys in baseball uniforms are pretty cute.
The whole time we were getting his baseball pictures Cole was like "Why are we doing this?" Not his thing.
Inbetween baseball we also go to piano lessons. I actually let Josh quit piano and now Cole is taking lessons and he seems to enjoy them. Bennett, our piano teacher's youngest, LOVES Josh. (Which he pronounces as "Dosh".) I gave him a copy of this picture last week and he was ecstatic. It's pretty cute.
It's also been raining. A LOT. Inches in a day a lot.
I tilled the garden last week and it rained so much after that the soil was all compacted again when I put in the garden yesterday.
Oh, and inbetween all the baseball and rain, Tess got the flu. Getting sick in the spring seems pretty insulting. Doesn't it feel like we should be done with all that nonsense in the winter? I will give her this, though - she's far better at getting sick into the bucket than any of her brothers. Natural talent.
The other night was the annual Father/Son campout. After much begging, I relented and let Tess sleep in my bed with me. She was SO HAPPY. Turns out Tess doesn't wiggle as much as she used to, but she sure talks in her sleep a lot. Good heavens! At one point she rolled over and said "Are you serious!?!" in a very annoyed tone, and then rolled back over. I'm pretty sure she was dreaming about her brothers and all the dang baseball games we've been going to.
