Tess the Artist

On Sunday afternoon Lance left for a week-long retreat work trip in Chicago.

By Sunday evening Josh had dropped a jar of pickles all over the kitchen floor, Spencer got a cut that bled enough to actually necessitate a band-aid, Cole sneaked a half-liter of root beer out of the fridge and drank it all (and then put the empty bottle back in the fridge), and Tess? In the midst of all of this fun Tess found a rogue pencil on the floor and decided to develop the artist in her.

All over the house.

Okay, not all over.  That evening I only found three walls she had drawn on. (A fourth was discovered the next day.)  But still.  That girl has quite the reach, because these were huge murals!

I wanted to have her hold a sign that said something like "Mom got a tiny bit distracted and I drew all over the walls" (like those funny dog-shaming pics online), but that would have required more effort than I was willing to give.  So instead we have this picture, which doesn't do justice to the intensity of her work.

Why, yes, that is milk dribbling down her chin and neck.  That evening she also decided that it was fun to hold milk in her mouth for a long time and then let it dribble all over herself.  And the carpet.
