Double Duty

Today's big project was cleaning the boys' room. It was a disaster. The floor was covered in toys and books and hadn't seen the light of day in weeks. And the toys that were put away weren't in the right place.

So I put the boys in the tub (they love long soaks) and got to work.

Within an hour it was pristine. A place for every thing and every thing in it's place. I even filled a garbage bag full of broken toys and other garbage. I opened the window to let a little fresh air in and get that little boy smell out. (If you have little boys, you know what smell I'm talking about.)

It remained clean all of 12.5 seconds. But that's expected.

During my cleaning I noticed that many of the toys were sticky and dirty. Gross. So I threw them into the washing machine with a couple of old towels and some Simple Green.


I don't know why, but I get tickled pink when I can use my washing machine for things like this. Having major appliances pull double duty makes them all the more useful. (I also use my washing machine to wash my shower curtains. And my dishwasher has been known to wash toys, balls, and other assundry household items.)
