Today I was trying to explain to Josh why Spencer wouldn't be going to preschool with him this fall. This is a difficult concept for a three year old. Why in the world would his older brother not want to go to preschool with him? I talked about how big kids go to different schools and how Spencer already went to preschool, so he doesn't need to go back.
This fell on deaf ears.
However, Josh got into the spirit of things and we had the following conversation on the way to pick Spencer up from school.
Josh: Mommy! And then I will be big and I will go to big kid school! And I will go with Spencer! And Spencer will be in school with me!
Me (playing along): Yep.
Josh: And then I won't have to go to school anymore. I will be done with school and then I can be a daddy.
Me (wondering where this is coming from): Okaaaay...
Josh: Then I can stay at home all the time with you. I will be done with school and I can stay with you! And I will be the daddy and you will be the mommy.
Me: But what will our Daddy do?
Josh: He will go to work.
Me: But what will you do? Will you go to work, too?
Josh: No. I will stay home with you.
Me: But we don't need two daddies at home. What will our Daddy do?
Josh (mysteriously and in a kinda creepy way): Daddy will go away...
Me: Go away? Where? I will miss him.
Josh: Daddy can go take care of Cole! And we will stay home and play Elephun!
Josh is a smarty-pants. Not only did he solve the whole "Where would Daddy go?" conundrum, but he also got rid of that pesky baby who's been bothering him lately.

Love it! When Emily was that age she told me she would drive the car when she got older. Yep. And Daddy could sit next to her but I would have to sit in the back. She hated sitting in the back. Oh, the love. At least he wants to hang out with you.
