A Conversation You Don't Want to Have with Your Toddler

Josh: Mommy! There's a chicken in your potty!

Me: Uh, what?

Josh: There's a chicken on your potty! Hahahahaha!

Me: Wait - is the chicken in the potty or on the potty?

Josh: *silence*

Me: Is the chicken in the water?

Josh: Yes.

Me: *groan*

We go look at the potty. Fortunately (and more than a little surprisingly) there is no stuffed chicken in there.

Josh: Where's the chicken? Can you help me find him?

Me: The chicken is not in there. See? He's not in the potty.

Josh: Yes! The chicken is in the potty! Where is he?

Me: No, he's not in there. Time to get out of the bathroom - you shouldn't be in here.

Josh: Nooooo!!!! Chiiiiiccckkkkeeennnnn!!!!!

And a tantrum commences as I lock the door. But at least there isn't a chicken in my potty.

For now.

Maybe he flushed it down the toilet? Yikes! It may be gone forever, depending on how big the chicken was. If you had a septic tank, you could technically go looking for it there. Double Yikes!

Nope, he didn't flush it. Because we eventually found the chicken he was looking for. But I'm still nervous...
