Random Events of the Day

  1. Waking up in the baby/guest room. Poor Lance was sick yesterday and thus snored. Loudly. Ferociously even. Rather than beat him, like I normally do, I just slept on the guest bed and woke up a little disoriented.
  2. The boys and I had a good discussion about what newborn babies can and cannot do. (Can: cry, eat, sleep, poop, loll their heads. Cannot: talk, eat candy, sleep in Joshie's bed, go potty on the potty, or dance.) Then I dropped this bombshell on Josh: when the baby comes, he's going to live with us. Josh gave me a look as if this thought had never and would have never in a million years come into his little head. It was like looking at the toddler version of Rodin's The Thinker.
  3. After lunch I was feeling pretty gross and decided I needed a nap. So I put on a movie and got out all of the best toys for the boys. I had been in bed for literally 30 seconds when I heard the fighting start. 60 seconds later Josh was crawling into bed with me, tears streaming and nose running. A tissue and a few blankies later, he was snoring in bed next to me. (But not as loudly as his father!) We slept for two hours, while Spencer played computer and who knows what else. Everyone happy.
  4. We had dinner at Chuck-E-Cheese tonight because the boys finally got enough stickers on their Being Good at Bedtime Chart. It was grand and glorious. The boys actually applauded as we pulled into the parking lot. We had saved tickets from a few other trips and they were each able to choose 'big toys' - these weird, spiky, plastic balls. (a.k.a. the most expensive balls we have ever bought.) The evening ended in tears because they were both so worn out, proving that they had had a fabulous time.
