I know I have waxed poetic on this topic before, but February is just the worst. It's so dark and miserable weather-wise. (Okay, the weather has been okay the last few days... but today was all rainy and yucky. So there.) And you just know another cold snap or huge snow storm is coming, no matter what large rodents in Pennsylvania say.
And without fail it seems like all the school projects are due in February. Spencer has two BIG ones. And I'm just waiting for Josh and Cole to come home with project assignments, too. And it's not that I do the projects for them - but I have to manage the projects to completion. (And by manage I mean remind, remind, remind, cajole, force, threaten, etc.) And I think that's harder than the actual stinkin' project.
And February has Valentine's Day, which isn't really all that bad in and of itself, but I always have and always will think of it as kind of a fake holiday. C'mon, you know it is. So while part of me wants to show my family that I love them, part of me wants to fight against the man and do nothing. (The latter part never wins. But it's still there...)
And this year we have the added bonus of a presidential election, really starting yesterday (FEBRUARY 1st) with the Iowa caucus. Omigosh. I hate presidential elections. No, no, no. I'm not against democracy or freedom. I realize what a privilege it is to vote. But whenever I think of all the money spent on campaigning it just makes me angry. It could be put to SO MUCH BETTER USE. Why can't we just have the primaries, say, 3 months out and then only allow campaigning 6 weeks out? Less burn out, less money wasted, waaay less annoying.
I should start planning fun vacations in February so I'd have something to look forward to. But that's right in the middle of the school year. And the weather is so unpredictable. And... and... blergh.
I just hate February, alright. And I'm just gonna sit here and keep hating it for 27 (Ugh. Leap year.) more days.
(I was trying to channel my inner Tess.)

This is when it's nice to be a skier--planning a February ski trip always gets me through the rest of the month! Hang in there! (And don't even get me started on school projects--argh!!!!)
Yes to ski trips and yes to Bahamian vacations. There's still time. School doesn't go anywhere if they miss it! January felt ridiculously long to me this year. Like New Years was just a month ago? Yeesh.
