My morning and most of my afternoon was spent mowing the lawn and clearing out the garden. Tilling the garden took an especially long time because we had such a rainy year and the ground was all compacted. It was much better after I tilled in a bunch of lawn clippings and compost. I love gardening , but there's something very satisfying about finishing the garden for the year and putting it to rest.
This afternoon I went to parent teacher conferences, and the kids are all doing so great! Brag brag brag. I was a little worried about Cole's behavior since he has a brand new teacher, but she is very much holding her own. Well done, Miss Misner! (Cole's not being terrible, but at the beginning of the year she had to establish who was the boss, and much to Cole's dismay it was not him.)
On the bulletin board outside Tess's classroom Mrs. Meyers hung self-portraits of each student. Tess's is so cute! I especially love the eye lashes.
On the bulletin board outside Miss Misner's room she had cute little sea creature cut outs labeled with student names. Cole being a crab seemed appropriate.
After the conferences I tried to whip up a quick dinner.
It was not as quick as hoped.
And finally, to top off the night, was the fall band concert at McCutcheon. It was pretty entertaining, but by then I was pretty wiped out. For once, though, Josh, Cole, and Tess all behaved and I didn't even have to bribe them! Wonders never cease.
Now I've collapsed into bed, having made it to 27,000 steps in one day. Tomorrow looks only slightly less busy. 😥
