I had a moment of weakness and bought this awesome apothecary jar at Target (pronounced Tarjay) the other day. I love it. (Although I'm seriously eying this at CB2 for the kitchen table.) I'm going to put it on my mantle and fill it with things appropriate for the season. And since Easter is upon us, my idea was to find some really cute, realistic-looking eggs. No dice; I've looked all over town and can't find any. (At a reasonable price, that is. I found some at a $1 a piece - way too pricey!)
Anywho, then I thought I'd fill it with Easter candy. My all time favorite is Cadbury Mini Eggs. I luuurrrrvve them. And that's exactly why I can not fill the jar with them, as I would munch on them all day long.
So then I had an epiphany - why not fill the jar with a classic Easter candy that I don't like: Peeps. So I did.
What do you think? I think it's pretty cute! I love the bright, spring colors; very sunny and happy. Very Eastery. And a jar full of Peeps is just kinda funny. Plus, there is no way I'll be tempted to eat one.
Blech.
Does anyone really like Peeps? (I mean, really?) I had a boyfriend in high school who's favorite time of year was right after Easter when the Peeps would go on sale. I'd buy him a dozen boxes for a $1 and watch in disgust as he'd gorge himself. In my mind's eye I can still see him stuffing five yellow chick Peeps in his mouth at once. Ah, high school days. Good times.
And, blech.
Of course, Spencer and Josh were sure they would love Peeps. (And what kid wouldn't have that logic? They're pure sugar - what's not to like?) As you can see in the video, Spencer was a little disappointed. Josh seemed to like them, but even he didn't finish.
So, no worries about anyone around here stealing the Peeps. Even after Easter.

Weren't you my roommate when we put Peeps in the microwave to watch them explode? I think so...that was something Peeps were good for.
Eeeew...Peeps. My sister LOVES Peeps though, and I always thought that was really weird as she has impecable taste in every other aspect of her life! The video was super cute though. Seriously...you exploded Peeps in the microwave at BYU? Yeah...there wasn't much to do in Provo. Hey...are you going to teach Spencer and Josh how to nuke Peeps tomorrow? I can't wait for that video!!!
Stacey, I don't think I was your roommate when you exploded Peeps in the microwave. I'm pretty sure I'd remember something like that! (Maybe it was that one semester after the crack house?) But that does give me an option to fight boredom this afternoon!
I love exploding peeps! I only have to eat one a year. Actually, I don't think I've had one for a few years. Maybe I'm "over" them.

I'm known for loving Peeps as well. I used to eat whole packages in one sitting. And on my 16th birthday my mom had 16 friends give me one randomly throughout my day. i have to admit though, I can't eat them like that anymore. Although, i do like them.
So, who was the boyfriend? Kind of funny to hear of someone liking them as much as me.
